Capping versus full replacement

Capping — cladding over the existing timber — is quick and cheap, and it is fine where the timber underneath is genuinely sound. Over rot it is a waste of money: the timber keeps going behind the plastic and the gutter brackets have nothing to hold. We check with a probe before quoting and tell you which one your eaves need.

What the job involves

Gutters come down, the old timber comes off, rafter ends are cut back to sound wood and repaired, then new fascia and vented soffit go on and the gutter is rehung to the correct fall. Everything is taken away the same day and the ground is swept and magnet-checked for nails.
